Tips to help your child sleep well while on holiday

25 Jul, 2022

Consistency is key when it comes to sleep, this can be tricky when you are in a different environment but there are simple things you can do that will help:

Where possible, try and stick to a routine or at least some elements of your regular routine such as a bath, followed by teeth cleaning and a story in a dimly lit room.

Make sure there is some winding down time in the evening before bed. You could encourage a calming activity such as doing a jigsaw or colouring in which are great for the whole family to take part in.

Give your child lots of reassurance, sometimes sleeping in a strange place can be frightening for children.

Ensure that you open the curtains each morning and get out into the natural daylight to help to reset your body clocks and wake you all up ready for a fun filled day ahead.

Temperatures can often be warm in the Summer, especially when going abroad, so ensure you are using an appropriate Slumbersac so that your child is kept at the right temperature during the night. Our 0.5 Tog Summer Sleeping Bags made with bamboo muslin, ensure that your little one is kept cool and comfortable. We have a whole range to choose from which are perfect for the warmer months.

If your child uses a Slumbersac at home then packing one to use when away provides real consistency in terms of their sleep environment.

Sleep patterns can often drift a little while on holiday but try not to stress. Their original routine will soon be back on track once they get home and you need to enjoy this break too. Happy Holidays!
